The Love Story
As soon as Josh saw Tammara's Tinder profile, he wasted no time messaging her back in 2015! They exchanged messages and had a few FaceTime dates for a few weeks, and sparks flew between these two lovebirds. By 2016, they made it official! Fast forward to 2019, Tammara left for military boot camp and eight long weeks later, Josh surprised her by proposing on her graduation day at the base golf course. Tammara's mom and stepdad were there to witness the moment, and after not seeing him for weeks, she was completely elated!
The Planning Experience
At first, a destination wedding was the last thing on their mind, but they were soon convinced. They officially got married in Jan. 2020 and were planning on having a ceremony in Miamisburg, OH, in May 2021, but COVID derailed their plans. After attending a friend's destination wedding in Punta Cana, they quickly decided to plan their own—but with a destination wedding twist. They made it even more special by planning it around their 5th wedding anniversary. When it came time to choose a wedding venue, the decision was easy—Tammara's mom and stepdad had stayed at Haven Riviera Cancun Resort before and absolutely loved it. After checking out a few options from their Certified Destination Wedding Specialist, they knew Haven was the one. With its adults-only atmosphere, glowing reviews, wedding packages, and affordability, it was the perfect place to say "I do.
The Celebration
Tammara and Josh went all out with the details to create the perfect vibe! They added a dance floor, string lights, uplights, tiki torches, and gorgeous floral decorations for the cocktail hour and a sweetheart table. It was the best wedding package at the resort, and they enjoyed all of the amazing amenities it included. Even with all the decor and their friends and family surrounding them, nothing could beat the moment when Tammara finally saw Josh as she walked down the aisle. They were finally having the wedding they had always dreamed of.
The Memories
To sum up their wedding in Mexico, they describe it as "amazing, excellent, and exhausting." They kicked off their celebration the night they arrived with all of their loved ones at a huge New Year's Eve dinner and party. They kept the fun going with a few more events, including a delicious welcome dinner and enjoying some of the resort's activities. It was the pre-party before the wedding day, and they wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
Advice For Future Couples
Tammara and Josh's biggest piece of advice is to read the most recent reviews for the
resort you choose, do a pre-wedding visit to the resort, and make sure you are focusing only on what is best for the two of you. It is your day so make sure it is all about what you want!
