The Love Story
Sierra and Alex first locked eyes in high school while he was working a shift at Chick-fil-A. One night after a basketball game, Sierra walked in just as he was getting off work. He happened to know her friend, and the moment they were introduced and started chatting, the spark was undeniable! Through all of life's ups and downs, they always found their way back to each other, and their connection never changed, even when Sierra decided to study abroad in London during college. Despite the challenges of long distance, they grew closer than ever and talked every day. At the end of her semester, Alex flew across the world, got down on one knee in front of St. Paul's Cathedral, and asked Sierra to be his forever!
The Planning Experience
A destination wedding was always in the cards for Sierra and Alex! They initially considered a hometown wedding, but after seeing the prices, they knew a destination wedding was the way to go. By inviting only their closest friends and family, they had zero stress and the perfect day. The resort they chose was eco-friendly, featuring amazing wildlife, delicious food, and plenty of activities like boat rides, spa days, and live shows. Plus, they got to explore nearby spots like Coba and even go scuba diving.
The Celebration
Sierra and Alex can't stop raving about their amazing celebration, especially how the Sweet Romance wedding package brought everything together. With minimal changes, they enjoyed a delicious dinner, strawberry cake, an open bar, and incredibly comfortable chairs—it was everything they had dreamed of! They will also never forget the monkeys swinging through the trees as they read their vows. To make their celebration even more special and unique to them, they incorporated a sand ceremony. "This was a very special and sentimental moment for us, and it helped signify our union in marriage," recall Sierra and Alex. The sand now sits on a bookshelf in their home, serving as a beautiful reminder of their big day in paradise.
The Memories
To sum up their destination wedding in paradise, they describe it as "beautiful, peaceful, and perfect." Everything fell into place flawlessly, and they even had some precious one-on-one time during their stay. They took an excursion to Yal-Kú Lagoon, where they explored crystal-clear waters and swam with colorful fish. They also enjoyed a romantic dinner included in their wedding package. With family and friends, they had a blast scuba diving with Sierra's dad, unwinding with beach massages, and sharing a fun pizza dinner with all their guests!"
Advice For Future Couples
Their biggest piece of advice for planning a destination wedding would be don't let anyone get into your head. Some friends and family will probably be upset or mad that your wedding is being held somewhere that is not close to them. At first, I struggled with wanting to
please family members who could not attend, but I had to remember this was MY wedding. Just remember that this day is about you and your partner only. Do what YOU want, and don't let their opinions change your mind about your perfect day!
