Nikita & David’s Destination Wedding in Cancun, Mexico

Venue: Stone Gazebo
Specialist: Desrine Duff
Number of Guests: 32

The Love Story

Once Nikita graduated from college, she went out searching for a part-time job for landscape design. Little did she know, not only would she secure the job she desired, but she would also meet the love of her life! Nikita and David worked alongside several projects together and instantly knew what a great team they made. They have been a great team for 7 years and counting now!

The Planning Experience

Since their families were scattered across the country, they figured why not have everyone travel to a beautiful destination for their special day. It was the perfect way for their families to mix, mingle and really get to know each other. When it came to deciding on their dream location, they searched and read reviews from plenty of different resorts. Finest Playa Mujeres came out on top and everyone was impressed with how incredible the resort was.

The Celebration

These lovebirds exchanged their own personal vows to each other after walking down the aisle, and were so happy they did! They even added more personal touches by making custom decor and a "shake for a kiss" noise maker! To kick off their wedding festivities, they spent a day sailing out to the Isla Mujeres and stopped to snorkel. Most of their wedding guests had never seen the ocean before, so it was a great thing to experience with them!

The Memories
One of their most memorable moments was the special first dances with their parents! David danced with his mom, and Nikita shared a special moment with her dad, who was moved to tears during their father-daughter dance. How sweet! To sum up their destination wedding experience, they described it as "fun, love, memories." And their destination wedding was filled with just that!

Advice For Future Couples

Their advice for future couples is to start about a year in advance. Do your research on the desired aspects of your wedding and narrow down your resort choices from there. Read reviews and ask questions. Once you have chosen your resort, check online (Facebook) for group pages on your resort. All your questions can be answered on those pages and the response time is immediate. My wedding group page was a life saver. After getting all my planning done via the group, I submitted my wedding planner document to my coordinator at the resort and things went so smoothly. Also, you are in such a beautiful location - do not overthink décor. No matter what your atmosphere of palm trees, beach and turquoise ocean will outdo anything you try to bring or purchase for décor.
