The Love Story
Not even distance could keep these two love birds apart! Melissa and Richard met when Melissa and her friends were vacationing in Cabo San Lucas. Richard was working at the front desk and after several visits to order a la carte dinners, Richard invited Melissa and her friends out to show them around the city. They instantly clicked and were immediately interested in each other by the end of the night. Unfortunately, Melissa had to return home, but they still kept in constant contact with one another. Melissa decided to return to Cabo to see if their relationship could work, but they couldn't bear being so far a part. Fast forward to June 25, 2011, they officially tied the knot and had a small civil ceremony with intentions of having a large destination wedding in Mexico down the road. A house and the birth of their two beautiful children later, they celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary with a stunning destination wedding!

The Planning Experience
Since Richard's family lives in Mexico and a destination wedding was something Melissa always dreamt of, it gave both families the chance to celebrate their love all together. Richard's family was not present during their civil wedding, so it was very important for them to have his family there for their vow renewal.  They  chose Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa because of its very new and modern look, along with its incredible facilities geared towards families and children.

The Celebration
Their wedding package incorporated very traditional Mexican aspects into their vow renewal celebration. It included a mariachi band,  a Mexican duo performance, tequila tasting, and a Mexican infused menu for our 3 course reception dinner.  Melissa and Richard also wrote our own renewal vows that were specific and special to them. Their son, Tyler, made a hilarious impact during their ceremony and instead of sitting with his grandparents, he stood in the middle of both his parents like he was officiating the ceremony.

The Memories
Melissa and Richard shared a heartfelt moment as soon as they faced each other and the officiant started the ceremony. They were both so overjoyed with emotion that they both welled up in tears. Melissa recalls, "we truly were reliving the happiest day of our lives." They describe their destination vow renewal experience as "the most amazing."

Advice For Future Couples
