The Love Story
From coworkers to soulmates! Melissa and Akime met back in 2020 at work and had their first date on New Year's Day 2021, the perfect way to start a new chapter together. Each year that followed brought something special. They welcomed their son in 2022, moved in together in 2023, and in 2024, Akime popped the question at Disney World while they were celebrating their son's second birthday. Finally, on September 19, 2025, they tied the knot at the beautiful Dreams Flora Resort and Spa, creating the perfect happily ever after.
The Planning Experience
Since Melissa and Akime live in New York, they knew a destination wedding would be the perfect choice. A wedding in New York would have been expensive, and since they love traveling together, a destination wedding was an ideal fit. Once they stepped foot in Dreams Flora Resort and Spa, it was love at first sight. The fact that it is located in Punta Cana, one of their favorite places, was a huge bonus.
The Celebration
Their wedding package was magical, and because it already included so much, they only needed to hire a talented photographer, a lively DJ, and an exciting MC. One of the moments they will never forget was sharing their first dance with their son.
The Memories
Melissa and Akime describe their destination wedding as the "best vacation ever." From having their son present to seeing their loved ones travel to watch them say their I dos, it was truly a celebration they will never forget. They also enjoyed many of the resort's perks, including the thrilling water park and the on-site nightclub. They loved their experience so much that they plan to return for their one-year anniversary. "It was so beautiful, luxurious, and peaceful," recalled Melissa and Akime.
