The Love Story
It all started in the fall of 2003 where Lorin and Jabin met at their United States Olympic Committee Internship in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Fast forward to June 22nd 2013, Jabin got down on one knee and proposed to Lorin just six weeks after the birth of their daughter, Gia. Jabin planned a little mini vacation at the Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara and it was like something out of the Bachelor! Lorin's sister came with us to watch the baby for their first official date night since her birth. Jabin had two white chairs and a small white table set up on the cliff overlooking the ocean, chocolate covered strawberries and champagne and played a few songs that remind him of Lorin; We started dancing and I heard the Train song "Marry Me" and then he got down on one knee…it was truly magical!
The Planning Experience
Even though Lorin thought she could never pull off a destination wedding, this happy couple always wanted one and they were so glad that they did. They decided to tie the knot because of the beautiful Grace Bay Beach at Alexandra Resort along with the great wedding packages and it being the only beachfront dining option on the island.
The Celebration
During their celebration in paradise, they had Lorin's best friend from high school read a poem that was meaningful and true to both Lorin and Jabin's personalities. It made them both laugh and just really spoke to who they were as a couple, so we added that for fun! Lorin's father passed away in 2012, so her Uncle David walked her down the aisle, a touching moment for Lorin and their loved ones. "I walked down the aisle to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and there were three rainbows that came out just before I stepped on the sand…it was unreal," recalls Lorin. Before their special day, Lorin and Jabin also took their guests on a snorkeling, which was so much fun! Everyone had the best time and it was so much better than a normal rehearsal day!
The Memories
One of their favorite memories was their first dance, it was a created mix of Christina Perri's "A Thousand Years" and Justin Timberlake's "My Love." They worked on a choreographed dance for weeks and thought their loved ones would get a kick out of it. To describe their destination wedding in paradise, they sum it up by saying it was "Ah - MA - ZING!" These newlyweds loved Turks and Caicos so much they plan to visit again very soon!
Advice For Future Couples
Lorin and Jabin's advice for couples is to not be afraid to use traditional wedding touches and plans at a destination wedding. Take advantage of the resort and concierge team to assist with planning. They have great insight and ideas that can be helpful during the planning process , so don't be afraid to ASK! I asked for everything while we were there since I was bringing in over 30 people to the resort and they were more than accommodating!
