The Love Story
Before Kim's one-month trial on a dating site was up, she spotted Juan, someone who looked cool, confident, and impossible to scroll past. Kim swiped, they started chatting, and quickly planned a first date. Although it was originally set for later that week, a last-minute cancellation gave Kim the push to ask if he was free that night. On the coldest night of the year, they shared the warmest first date, bonded over sushi, and have been inseparable ever since. On June 16, 2024, Juan got down on one knee and asked Kim to spend forever with him, and not long after, they said their I dos in sunny Los Cabos.
The Planning Experience
Since Juan's mom and part of his family live in Mexico, they knew from the start that a destination wedding just made sense. They imagined everyone coming together in a tropical paradise to celebrate their love. Having both experienced traditional weddings before, they wanted something different this time around something fun, relaxed, and truly memorable for everyone involved. Their vision was a family friendly celebration that balanced comfort, charm, and affordability, and Dreams Los Cabos delivered all of that and more.
The Celebration
Stephanie Parks, their Certified Destination Wedding Specialist, helped them find the perfect package for their big day. After sharing a list of everything they wanted and needed, she came back with a beautifully planned celebration that included thoughtful upgrades and all of their non-negotiables. They tied the knot on the beach during sunset with a live mariachi band playing as they walked out, which surprised all of their guests! "It was everything we hoped for and the kind of night you never forget," recall Kim & Juan. As they danced the night away by the ocean, an unexpected moment made the evening even more magical. Their nephew was playing in the sand when he spotted a baby sea turtle, and once the staff arrived, they realized nearly 80 baby sea turtles were surrounding them. After a quick Google search, Juan learned that baby sea turtles symbolize new beginnings, good luck, and overcoming obstacles, making their wedding day feel even more special.
The Memories
Kim and Juan describe their wedding celebration as "unforgettable, magical, and breathtaking." Being able to disconnect from real life for a bit, celebrate their love, and spend time with all their loved ones was the highlight of their destination wedding. They enjoyed the experience so much that they would love to return to Dreams Los Cabos for their one-year anniversary to enjoy fun excursions, explore more of the area, and spend more time together.
Advice For Future Couples
Kim & Juan's advice for planning a destination wedding?
"You can't control everything—especially from afar—so decide your non-negotiables early and let the rest be flexible! Trust your coordinator! And remember, a destination wedding is about creating memories in a beautiful place with the people who matter most. Keep that at the heart of every decision. It's about you as a couple!"
