The Love Story
From a beautiful friendship to tying the knot, Kayla and Marissa realized they wanted to spend forever with each other. After meeting each other in grad school at Northern Illinois University, they bonded over similar career paths and grew a very strong friendship. Before they knew it, their friendship blossomed into something special.
The Planning Experience
It took one trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico for them to fall in love with the destination and start planning their beautiful destination wedding. Since their families were scattered across the US, the idea of having a celebration in another place was the best choice for them. The combination of the stunning wedding venues, gourmet cuisine, and luxury accommodations led them to tying the knot at Generations in Riviera Maya.
The Celebration
Everything they envisioned for their special day came to life with the help of the on-site wedding coordinators. From their close family-friend serving as their Celebrant to DJ Maxx playing all their favorite tunes, it was exactly what they dreamed of for their wedding. Even with the down-pour of rain, they were able to capture their love with wedding photos and enjoy their cocktail hour with their family and friends. Kayla and Marissa went all out with their pre and post wedding activities and planning two excursions with their loved ones! They explored Xentotes Oasis Maya and enjoyed drinks, snacks, and snorkeling, along with discovering multiple cenotes locations and cliff jumping.
The Memories
When they were standing at the altar, their Celebrant encouraged them to really savor the moments and view their guests, the clear blue sky, and the crystalline ocean. It is a moment these newlyweds often recall when looking back at their stunning wedding photos. For their one year anniversary, they plan on returning to El Dorado Casitas Royale to enjoy paradise all over again!
Advice For Future Couples
Their advice for future couples is to not be afraid to communicate with your wedding designer often and ask for the things you think might not be possible. We were so surprised when almost every single one of our requests were granted. Visiting the resorts in advance is crucial when making a decision. On paper, a different resort seemed perfect, but in person, was less accommodating and impressive. Arrive a few days prior to the wedding , so you can have time to relax and work out the last few details.
