The Love Story
In a world of modern romance, Ivette and Reynald's love bloomed when they matched with each other on Tinder. After one month of pure bliss, they made it official and shared deep talks and special moments during the COVID lockdowns. On February 2, 2023, they took a romantic trip to Ivette's country in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala with Ivette's sisters and cousins. Little did Ivette know, a surprise proposal was waiting just around the corner! Thinking she was dressing up for a simple boat ride, she was met with a magical scene of rose petals, a 'marry me' sign, her mom, and Reynald, ready to drop to one knee. As soon as she said yes, fireworks lit up the night sky!
The Planning Experience
These travel enthusiasts didn't know they wanted to have a destination wedding at first, but after much consideration, they thought spending a few days in paradise with their closest loved ones would be the perfect way to say I do. Cancun, Mexico became their top choice for their dreamy destination wedding because it was both accessible for friends new to international travel and served as a convenient midpoint between the United States and Guatemala, where Ivette's family is from. Dreams Sands Cancun fit their vision perfectly with the white sandy beaches and beautiful ocean backdrop, the best part, there was no seaweed!
The Celebration
Ivette and Reynald elevated their destination wedding with plenty of extra add-ons, such as floral arrangements, a boho aisle runner, and a wedding arch, each reflecting their vision for their special day. Since they wanted their reception to feel like a big party, they added a DJ/MC to make the night lively and exciting, cold fireworks to light up the dance floor, and even incorporated cryo jets! "The cryo jets were 100% worth it and the DJ/MC were amazing at what they did. We were on the dance floor the entire time," recalls Ivette. Their wedding brought guests from all walks of life together, including from Guatemala, France, and the states. It was a celebration they couldn't have imagined without all of their loved ones.
The Memories
To sum up their destination wedding in Cancun, they describe it as "memorable, magical, and fun." From their fantastic guest list, picture-perfect beach backdrop to declare their love, to memories they will cherish forever, their wedding was a dream come true.
Advice For Future Couples
Ivette and Reynald advise future couples to be very detailed in their emails to the wedding coordinator of your resort. Make sure to have a folder for all your contracts, documents, and an email folder for all communication with the hotels/DW. I added bullets to all my emails to the wedding coordinator, and she would respond to each bullet.
