The Love Story
Charles and I went to high school together, but didn't start dating until meeting again 3 years later in Sunday School. He and a friend both wanted to ask me out, but Charles asked me first. We were good friends for a few months and I wasn't ready to date but after a long conversation with a friend and a wonderful date with just the two of us, I fell in love.
The Planning Experience
Diana always wanted a destination wedding, since she absolutely loves to travel. However, Charles is a very traditional southern man and our families wanted a big wedding. Since this was their 20th anniversary vow renewal with our children and we now all love to travel, it was an easy sell! Their consultant, Susan, was super helpful in choosing the right resort for them. Susan asked plenty of questions to get to their family and she was very aware that the resort needed to appeal to both my husband's taste as well as my children's.
The Celebration
Because they did not write our own vows the first time, Diana and Charles wrote their own vows, which were definitely more meaningful to them, especially after 20 years of marriage. What really made the ceremony special was that their wedding consultant had their two children write vows as well. Then the 4 of them signed the renewal certificate, which was really an affirmation for them that we chose the right place and the perfect ceremony.
The Memories
One of their favorite memories was when their children read their vows to and stated what great parents they are and that they hope to find the love like they have. To sum up their destination wedding experience, they state it was the "perfect destination," especially when it came to the resort. They loved how the staff was always so accommodating and went out their way to make them feel special, including treating their children like family. One of their staff members, Minerva at Preferred Club, always made sure to give Diana's daughter a hug when she saw her!
Advice For Future Couples
Diana and Charles' best advice for other couples thinking about having a destination wedding is, "Do it the way YOU want. Don't be afraid to share your vision with your consultant. And most importantly, trust your wedding planner. They know what they are doing, so just sit back and enjoy the time!"
