The Love Story
It all began in October 2020 with a glass of wine at Rove Winery in Northern Michigan. Drew was behind the bar, and by the time Courtney made it home, she already had a new Instagram request waiting for her. Just a couple of weeks later, they met up for drinks, sparks flew instantly, and before long they were inseparable. Fast forward four years, and the day before Christmas Eve, Drew got down on one knee at one of their favorite hiking spots, the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes overlooking Lake Michigan. The proposal couldn't have been more magical, especially with the surprise celebration Drew had planned afterward with all their friends and family to toast their engagement!
The Planning Experience
They had always joked about hopping on a plane and saying "I do," but once engaged, it quickly became clear that a destination wedding was the dream. A hometown celebration was out of the question due to high costs, and they both wanted something more affordable not just for them, but also for their loved ones. When they discovered Haven Riviera Cancun, everything clicked. The price was right, the staff was incredible, and it offered everything they envisioned for their big day.
The Celebration
Their wedding day came together beautifully, with an amazing team of vendors, including Valentina Flowershop, who created lush florals, custom signs, and seating charts that matched their unique style. Courtney and Drew soaked it all in from their sweetheart table on the Vora Deck, overlooking their friends and family, with a stunning sunset, twinkling lights above, and waves crashing in the background. It was a magical and they cherished every moment.
The Memories
To sum up their destination wedding in paradise, they describe it as "romantic, relaxing, and memorable." From quality time with loved ones to the lush floral décor, it was everything they dreamed of and more. They even added adventure to the mix with an excursion to Chichén Itzá alongside their closest friends, exploring a Mayan cenote and the vibrant downtown scene.
