The Love Story
It all started back in 2018 when Antonia and Jon first became friends! Their friend groups were a little different but shared the same love for music festivals and concerts on the weekends. After a long quarantine in 2021 without music or weekend concerts, Antonia and Jon attended a show separately—but fate had other plans, and they ran into each other! "It was like the world just melted away," recalls Antonia and Jon. They spent the night laughing, dancing, and reminiscing. From that moment on, they began to connect in ways they never had before, and the rest is history!
The Planning Experience
Having a destination wedding was a no-brainer for Antonia and Jon! They loved visiting Cancun with friends and wanted their loved ones to experience the same joy they had at an all-inclusive resort. With free food, beaches, pools, entertainment, touring the ruins, and snorkeling, Mexico seemed like the perfect destination for them to tie the knot. After hours of searching for their dream venue, they fell in love with Dreams Riviera Cancun because of the family-friendly atmosphere, affordability, and amazing room options.
The Celebration
Antonia and Jon went with the basic package for 50+ people and got creative to make it truly theirs! They brought a ton of their own décor to make it unique and shipped a few items to the wedding planner ahead of time. It all came together so beautifully! One of their favorite parts of their weeklong celebration was being able to walk around the resort and run into all their family and friends. It felt like one big reunion!
The Memories
To sum up their destination wedding in Cancun, they describe it as relaxing, joyful, and beautiful. The one thing they will never forget is being surrounded by all their loved ones and enjoying everything Mexico had to offer. From snorkeling and fire/light shows to lounging on cabanas, their celebration was unforgettable. They loved their wedding so much that they're already planning to come back for their one-year anniversary!
Advice for Future Couples
Antonia and Jon's biggest piece of advice for couples planning a destination wedding is: budget, budget, budget! Write down everything to estimate your true costs. Prioritize what you want to spend the bulk of your money on. When the resort quotes you, try to find ways to lower the cost if needed (e.g., using Etsy for flowers and Amazon for décor). Use Knot and Wedding Wire to find trusted vendors and advisors who can help you make these decisions!
