The Love Story
On December 28, 2016, Brenton messaged Amanda on Instagram during winter break at Fordham University, sparking a connection that felt like love at first sight for him and a modern love story for her. Despite attending different universities, Amanda and Brentonon quickly began chatting online and soon couldn't go a day without talking. They finally met in person on March 4, 2017, when Fordham's basketball team played in Philadelphia. That spring, Brenton won Amanda's grandmother's approval and took Amanda on their first date to Dallas Barbeque, where he asked her to be his girlfriend. Since then, they've navigated a long-distance relationship, supported each other through degrees and careers, and shared countless adventures. On Amanda's 26th birthday, Brenton surprised her with tickets to see Les Misérables in Washington, a rooftop proposal surrounded by loved ones, a life-size "Marry Me" sign, and a photographer. Amanda said yes, and the couple celebrated the night away. Now, they're thrilled to begin their next chapter as Mr. and Mrs. Petty!
The Planning Experience
Growing up, Amanda always dreamed of having a destination wedding. Hearing her parents reminisce about their own wedding—and how they wished they'd had a week-long celebration—solidified her decision to marry in a tropical location. "We loved the idea of spending multiple days with our loved ones in paradise and combining our big day with a relaxing vacation for everyone," said Amanda and Brenton. Their venue, Dreams Royal Beach, offered everything they'd hoped for—beauty, affordability, and a convenient location for all their guests. They knew they had found the perfect place to tie the knot.
The Celebration
Every detail, from start to finish, was crafted to create a personalized and unforgettable wedding experience, not only for the couple but for their guests as well. They kicked off their paradise celebration with an all-white welcome party, upgraded with a DJ, premium bar, and a lively fire-dancer show. Their private seaside grill reception with twinkling fairy lights, featured a premium bar, Caribbean cocktails, a photo booth, and entertainers who kept the energy alive. It was everything they had envisioned, and they enjoyed every second of their big day!
The Memories
To sum up their destination wedding in Punta Cana, they describe it as "paradise, unforgettable, and magical." Their favorite part of the celebration, beyond the magic of their wedding, was running into their favorite people all around the resort. The highlight, though, was the after-party at Coco-Bongo nightclub, where they danced the night away, celebrating their first hours as newlyweds!
Advice For Future Couples
Amanda & Brenton's advice to anyone planning a destination wedding is to plan at least a year in advance, create a wedding website with all the important details for your guests, and try not to stress! The wedding coordinator at the resort will help bring everything together the week of the wedding. Just be prepared for slower communication before you arrive at the resort.
