The Love Story
A Tinder swipe back in 2019 was just the beginning of Maria & Alejandro's love story! After an amazing first date, they became inseparable, and before he knew it, Alejandro was saying "I love you" just 3 months later. Once COVID hit, they navigated the ups and downs of the world's uncertainty together. They traveled, discovered new restaurants, went on fun dates, and more, trying to create as many memories as possible. Four years went by, and they bought their first place together. A year later, Alejandro got down on one knee in Spain and asked Maria to spend forever with him.

The Planning Experience
As big beach lovers, Maria and Alejandro knew that a destination wedding would be the perfect fit for them. A few years ago, they traveled to the Dominican Republic and fell in love with the beautiful waters of Bavaro Beach. They noticed a wedding happening right on the beach and how beautiful it looked. Once they got engaged, they looked at each other and said, "We're getting married in the Dominican!" They loved the idea of having a destination wedding experience with all of their friends and family, and the fact that it was more affordable than a hometown wedding was the cherry on top. One of their biggest priorities was saying their I dos at Bavaro Beach, so their Certified Destination Wedding Specialist, Sandi, helped narrow down some options. Melia Punta Cana Beach checked off so many of their boxes, so it was the perfect venue for their adults-only celebration.

The Celebration
Maria and Alejandro wrote their own heartfelt vows, which made their wedding day even more special and memorable. For their reception, they brought some goodies from home to compliment their beach theme and add to their wedding package. To enhance their experience, they added a photobook, a phone guest booth, and a lively DJ with a dance floor to play their favorite Spanish tunes.

The Memories
Maria and Alejandro describe their destination wedding experience as "fun, unforgettable, and iconic." Their week-long celebration was exactly what they imagined it would be, with all of their favorite people in one place. Being able to spend quality time with people they don't see often made their special day even better. The day before their wedding, they took a fun 6-hour catamaran trip with all of their loved ones. Their wedding is still talked about to this day by all of their friends and family, highlighting just how special and exciting it was.

Advice For Future Couples
Maria and Alejandro's biggest piece of advice to couples for having a destination wedding?

"Don't stress! One of the great things about having a destination wedding is that resorts offer wedding packages that take so much of the planning off your plate. Everything turned out even better than I imagined. My other piece of advice is to get a travel specialist. Sandi was so helpful throughout the entire process and definitely made everything easier for us."
