The Love Story
What started as a simple Facebook message quickly turned into Neely & Steve's blossoming romance! A month later, they met up for a casual dinner and drinks, and it was history. They loved sneaking away for weekend trips to Pittsburgh for a nice dinner and drinks, and on one of their trips, Steve got down on one knee and popped the question at a restaurant overlooking the city.
The Planning Experience
Neely & Steve never originally envisioned a destination wedding, but everything slowly fell into place. Neely had once visited Italy and dreamed of having her wedding there, but after the sudden passing of her mom, those plans changed. Neely and her mom had always traveled to Mexico together during the cold Ohio winters, and her mom had often dreamed of throwing her a big wedding celebration for her one day. After her passing, Mexico felt like the perfect choice, it was a place they both loved and where Neely knew she would still feel her presence.
The Celebration
Their ceremony was incredible from start to finish, featuring an over-the-water setting and jaw-dropping floral arrangements. Neely's dream was to have bold, colorful blooms rather than traditional white, and Dreams Playa Mujeres delivered beautifully. To keep the celebration going, they upgraded the DJ/MC for an extra hour at the reception and added exciting water drum entertainment. The newlyweds and all of their loved ones enjoyed every second of it. Even though it started to rain during the end of their celebration, they made the most of it by jumping into the pool with their guests.
The Memories
While saying I do was the highlight of the trip, one of their favorite memories was renting a catamaran to Isla Mujeres and snorkeling with all of their guests. During the excursion, Neely spotted colorful fish and even a sea turtle, which completely made her trip. The fun didn't stop there! On top of their snorkeling excursion, they ventured off and did plenty of other activities, including, swimming in a cave, zip lining through Cancun, and driving ATVs.
Advice For Future Couples
Neely & Steve's biggest piece of advice for planning a destination wedding?
Trust the process and do not stress. Leave it to the people who do this everyday. Show up and enjoy your time wherever you choose to go. Destination weddings are a once in a lifetime opportunity (or should be). Go and make the best memories with your favorite people.
