Kauai, Hawaii

Why do so many people get married on Kauai? Because this is the place where the perfect ending to your wildest fairy tale can come true. This is an island far from the crowd, an island that fairly beckons romance. Listen to the soft slush of the surf washing up on a golden-sand beach. You're both wearing sweet-smelling leis standing barefoot in the sand repeating the vows that will change your lives. Or try another scenario. You're in a Hawaiian canoe moving up a lagoon toward a wedding chapel, the chapel where Elvis got married in the film "Blue Hawaii." Destinationweddings.com works with all resorts and wedding coordinators in Kauai that offer many different wedding packages, including beach weddings. For more information on resorts, wedding coordinators and packages, please speak with your Destination Wedding Specialist.

Beaches

Kauai beach locations are undoubtedly the most breath-taking in the State. In relation to the size of its coastline, there are more beaches on Kauai than any other Hawaiian Island. There are lovely stretches of sand along the entire west coast, at Poipu on the south coast and between Princeville and the Na Pali mountains on the north coast.

Climate

Overall, summer temperatures between May and October are warmer, peaking in August, and drier than the winter months. February and March are the coolest months when night temperatures on the coast fall to 15C.

Currency

All Credit Cards are widely accepted throughout Hawaii and although US$ travellers cheques are recommended for both convenience and security, it is entirely feasible to travel around with your credit card only (make sure your limit is adequate for your needs).

Marriage Requirements

For a Hawaii wedding, you need a valid state license obtainable from either the Marriage License Office in Honolulu or through an agent on the other islands (ask your hotel for assistance). Licenses cost US$30 and are valid for 30 days.

Please Remember:

Destination weddings take considerable planning and research, and the best properties & accommodations often book far in advance of the wedding date. The earlier you begin planning your wedding, the greater the likelihood you will be able to book the perfect property for you and your guests.
