Time ZoneOne hour ahead of EST. BeachesBermuda is famous for it’s beautiful pink sand beaches, most of which are on the South Shore. Many beaches feature coral reefs off-shore, which adds to the postcard-like tropical scene. ClimateDuring April through October Bermuda enjoys summer-like temperatures with the warmest weather July through September. Temperature rarely top 85°F. November through March brings spring-like temperatures, with temperatures sometimes dipping into the 60’s. October through December, as well as March and April, can bring either summer-like climate or spring. What to WearAs Bermuda is a traditional English colony, conservative dress is expected. Swimwear is not acceptable off of the beach or away from the pool. During the day, casual dress is acceptable. In the evening, many restaurants require collared shirts for men, and similar level of dress for women. Currency and Credit CardsThe official currency is the Bermudian Dollar, although US currency is widely accepted, as well as major credit cards. Electricity110 volts. Same as the United States. Marriage RequirementsCouples who wish to get married in Bermuda must file a "Notice of Intended Marriage" with the Registry General, accompanied by a fee of $205 (in the form of a bank check or money order, not a personal check). Make the draft out to "The Accountant General" and mail or deliver it in person to the Registry General, Government Administration Building, 30 Parliament St., Hamilton HM 12, Bermuda (tel. 441/297-7709). Bermuda Department of Tourism offices in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, and New York distribute "Notice of Intended Marriage" forms. If either of the prospective marriage partners has been married before, that person must attach a photocopy of the final divorce decree to the "Notice of Intended Marriage." Once the Registry General receives the "Notice of Intended Marriage," it will be published, including names and addresses, in any two of the island's newspapers. Assuming that there is no formal objection, the registry will issue the license 15 days after receiving the notice. Airmailing your completed notice to Bermuda takes 6 to 10 days, so plan accordingly. The marriage license will be sent to you and will be valid for 3 months.
