Climate & Beaches
The Fijian Islands have a warm tropical climate. Taveuni in particular sees quite a bit of rainfall. Temperatures average from 71 to 84 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter months, and range from 71 to 91 degrees F in the summer.
Though less-known for their beaches than other Fijian islands, Taveuni has a number of secluded, black volcanic beaches. The nearby islands of Laucala, Matagi and Qamea will appeal to travelers looking for white sand and luxury resorts.
Activities & Attractions
Taveuni’s Rainbow Reef, part of the world-famous Somosomo Straits, offers unforgettable diving and snorkeling through incredible coral reefs. Or, if you prefer to stay on land, the mainland of Taveuni is brimming with possibilities for active adventurers. The Lavena Coastal Walk begins at the Lavena village and guides you along Taveuni’s wild southeastern coastline for stunning vistas of waterfalls and lush forest. Hiking, biking and kayaking are also popular excursions through the many national parks. The island is also home to a few golf courses with stunning ocean views.
