Documents Needed for Travel

U.S. citizens are required to have a valid U.S. passport, or original state-issued birth certificate with raised seal, accompanied by a photo I.D. and a return ticket.

Language

The official language is English, however English patois is widely spoken.

Beaches

Antigua has a beach for everyone. Antiguans say that “Antigua has a beach for every day of the year, with one left over.” Whatever your taste in beaches is, you are guaranteed to find one in Antigua.

Climate

Antigua enjoys stable tropical conditions all year long. Temperatures range from 78-88 degrees throughout the year, and rainfall is usually only seen in short bursts that only last a couple minutes or so.

What to Wear

Moderately casual clothing is acceptable during the day. Swimwear is not acceptable off of the beach/pool. “Smart casual” is usually the rule at night, with slacks for men, and dresses for women. Some fancier resorts or restaurants require jackets.

Currency and Credit Cards

The Eastern Caribbean Dollar is the official currency of Antigua, however US currency and credit cards are widely accepted.

Marriage Requirements

1. Valid Passports
2. If either party has been previously married, then bring along the original divorce decree or, in the case of a widow or widower, the original marriage and death certificates.
3. Two witnesses
