Inviting Kids to a Destination Wedding: Yay or Nay?

Inviting kids to a destination wedding is a personal decision and comes with its own set of pros and cons. Here are some things to consider when choosing whether or not to have a kid-friendly destination wedding:

Wedding style and atmosphere

Consider the overall vibe you want for your destination wedding. If it's elegant and sophisticated in a formal setting, an adults-oriented affair may be best. However, if it's more relaxed and brimming with excitement and activities, children could be included.

Consider the guest list

Evaluate your guest list and number of families with children attending. If many of your close family members or friends have children, excluding them from the invitation may cause logistical problems or make it difficult for some guests to attend.

The resort and venue

Determine if your ideal resort venue is adults only or family friendly. Some adults-only resorts may allow children to attend the ceremony but not stay on property or attend the reception. Conversely, many family-friendly resorts have a separate adults-only section to give you the best of both worlds.

Kid-friendly amenities

If you decide to invite kids to your destination wedding, research your resort's amenities and childcare options. Many all-inclusive resorts offer babysitting services, a kids and/or teen's club, and plenty of age-appropriate activities to keep them entertained. Consider adding connecting rooms or multi-bedroom suites to your room block to give families ample space and ultimate comfort.
