About Us - DestinationWeddings.com
DestinationWeddings.com offers a full service “one stop shopping” approach which has one goal in mind - to make the planning and coordination of your Destination Wedding as simple and stress-free as possible. Destination weddings are different from typical weddings and honeymoons, and therefore require the planning of an experienced travel agent, a Destination Wedding Travel Specialist.

Along with your dedicated Destination Wedding Specialist, DestinationWeddings.com offers a complimentary wedding website to its couples. Your wedding website helps organize and get the word out to guests, and serves as an interactive community for you, your guests, and your Destination Wedding Specialist as everyone books their trips to attend your dream wedding.

Management Team
Our management team has a combined 70 years in the travel industry.  Quentin “Bud” Carmichael is the President of Destination Wedding Travel (DWT).  Bud Carmichael is also the President of Horizons Unlimited Travel, a traditional travel agency chain well-established in the New England area since 1954.  He is joined by two of his colleagues Ed Cotton, Chief Operating Officer of DWT and Horizons Unlimited Travel and Quentin Carmichael III, Marketing and Sales Manager of DWT and Horizons Unlimited Travel.  Rounding out the team is Sean Walsh, DWT's Chief Technology Officer.

President – Quentin “Bud” Carmichael Jr.
In addition to serving as President and Founder of Destination Wedding Travel, Bud is also the President of Horizons Unlimited Travel, a multi-office travel management company based in Framingham, Massachusetts.  Bud has been President of Horizons Unlimited since 1987, and during his tenure the business has grown from a “mom and pop” local agency with four million dollars in yearly sales to national sales in excess of thirty million dollars.  In 2004 Bud successfully led Horizons Unlimited through its 50th year of business, showcasing both the company and its leadership during the challenges faced by the travel industry within recent years.

Bud has represented DWT as guest speaker at multiple conventions including the Honeymoon and Romantic Getaways Show in Long Beach, California and at the National Home-Based Travel Agent Conference, which was attended by over 1,300 agents in Baltimore, Maryland.

Derived from a conversation with a friend who was having trouble planning his daughter’s wedding, Bud has taken an idea and built it into Destination Wedding Travel and DestinationWeddings.com, helping over 200 couples per month achieve their Marriage Made in Heaven™.

Bud holds a B.S. from the University of Alabama/Northeastern University.

Chief Operating Officer – Ed Cotton
Ed serves as COO for both DWT and Horizons Unlimited Travel.  Ed joined Horizons in 1991 to establish a Groups, Meetings and Conventions division.  From 1993 he developed the division’s client base and turned it into the most profitable division of Horizons, accounting for 20% of total sales.  Additionally during this time period Ed was responsible for the creation of both a corporate and meetings website, as well as the implementation of a new Computer Reservation System (CRS) and Virtual Private Network (VPN) for all of our offices and home based staff.  In his capacity with Horizons Ed is responsible for the day to day operations of two full service travel agencies and two client onsite corporate travel agencies.

Prior to joining Horizons Ed established Hammersmith and Company, a start-up tour operator that offered specialty group travel to Europe and Asia.  Hammersmith became well known for their English antiques shopping tours, and in 1983 was featured on the cover page of the New York Times, in an article by Marian Burros titled ‘9-Days and One Million Antiques Later’.

In October of 2003 Ed was critical in the development of Destination Wedding Travel’s specialist training program.  In this capacity Ed has been instrumental in bringing DWT to its current level of over 180 Destination Wedding Specialists.  Ed has also developed relationships with all of DWT’s travel suppliers and has negotiated relationships that are at the highest levels in our industry.

Chief Technology Officer – Sean Walsh
As CTO of Destination Wedding Travel, Sean Walsh leads and manages the evolution of DestinationWeddings.com’s technology core.  In his four years in the role, Sean and his team have designed and developed the key corporate systems that achieve the critical balance of driving rapid growth while facilitating the online/offline destination wedding experience.

In 2004, Sean developed and launched the Agent Dashboard™ and Wedding Manager systems, providing Destination Wedding Specialists the ability for at-a-glance management of their wedding parties and providing the platform for communication and collaboration among brides, their guests, their specialist, and internal administrators and managers. He designed and developed the Agent Booking and Commission tracking engine to record and manage all travel bookings, and continues to enhance the DestinationWeddings.com website to provide couples and their guests with unique and stress-free destination wedding planning.

Prior to joining DWT, Sean led strategic product development efforts as Director of Product Development at C-Quential, an incentive-based marketing and branding promotions company. In this role he developed and launched C-Quential’s Action-Reward Center and Customer Loyalty Portal for several clients. From 1999 to 2002, Sean worked with Open Enterprise Corporation (OEC) and C-bridge Internet Solutions as Technical Practice Manager, heading OEC’s largest customer system implementation.

Sean co-developed the prototype version of the Wedding Manager system in 2002 prior to joining as CTO in 2004. He holds a B.S. from MIT.

Marketing and Sales Manager – Quentin Carmichael III
Quentin Carmichael III has served as Marketing and Sales Manager of DWT since 2003, and is a founding member of the management team.  Quentin has interned with Horizons Unlimited Travel since 1994, and has used his experience in the travel industry to supplement the marketing efforts of Destination Wedding Travel™.

Quentin holds a B.S. in Marketing from Bryant University, a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification from National Graduate School, and a MBA from Framingham State (2008).

Quentin currently focuses on project management, strategic partnerships, and the application of Lean Six Sigma quality theory to customer service and process improvement initiatives.

Please Remember:

Destination weddings take considerable planning and research, and the best properties & accommodations often book far in advance of the wedding date. The earlier you begin planning your wedding, the greater the likelihood you will be able to book the perfect property for you and your guests.
